Business Champion, Dow Jones Insight and Text Mining

Martin Murtland is a Business Champion for the Dow Jones Enterprise Media Group where he is responsible for the strategic development of the Dow Jones Insight business line. He has overall commercial and product development responsibility for Dow Jones Insight, which focuses on meeting the information needs of brand and reputation managers, and public relations and corporate communications professionals. He also has commercial responsibility for the Factiva’s text-mining business.

 

Prior to this role, Mr. Murtland was most recently director of publisher relations at Factiva, before it was acquired by Dow Jones, where he was responsible for the company’s content licensing activities throughout the Americas, and before that, he was manager of business planning where he developed the company’s strategic business plans for new and existing business ventures. Before joining Factiva, Mr. Murtland held marketing roles at Reuters including manager of international marketing and UKI marketing manager. He was also a product manager for Standard & Poor’s marketing online analysis of the foreign exchange, bond and equity markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

 

Mr. Murtland has been a guest conference speaker on topics including ‘Reputation Management’, ‘Devising an Information Strategy’ and ‘Strategies for Intranets and Extranets’. He has also contributed to a book titled “Supporting Strategy: Frameworks, Methods & Models” by J Wiley. Mr. Murtland earned his MBA with Distinction from Warwick University and a master’s degree in marketing from Kingston University.
